An den langen Lüssen (Grinzing), named in 1908 after a marsh name. The name Lüssen comes from the Middle High German word “luz” and refers to a piece of land allocated by lot. The winner of the lot received the right to use the land for one year. The street was originally called Friedhofstraße (Cemetery Street) and Grinzinger Friedhofstraße (Grinzing Cemetery Street).

I visited An den Langen Lüssen together with my partner on March 23rd 2025. One thing I love about this project is, that I can take people with me and they sometimes have their personal histories with the areas we're visiting. So I get to know more about Vienna, but also more about the people in my life at the same time. And our personal histories get intertwined at the same time. I love the beauty of that.
