Amselgasse
1210 Floridsdorf
Amselgasse (Schwarze Lackenau), named in 1942 after the songbird Blackbird. The Blackbird (or Black Thrush) belongs to the thrush family. It grows to about 24-27 cm in length, with females usually somewhat smaller than males. Males are jet black with a yellow-orange beak and a striking eye ring. Females are predominantly dark brown, often with a streaked breast and a less conspicuously colored beak. Originally a forest bird, it is now a typical agricultural follower: found in gardens, parks, settlements, and cities. The male sings primarily between March and July—often before dawn—as a territorial song. The song consists of melodic verses with varied motif development; Blackbirds are capable of imitating the sounds of other bird species or noises from their environment. Blackbirds are primarily ground feeders: earthworms, insects, and snails are among their preferred foods. Blackbirds are open-nesting birds and build their nests in bushes, trees, hedges, or even in the recesses of buildings. Their clutches usually consist of 3–5 eggs. Rearing and incubation primarily take place in spring and summer.
I was so pmsy and insecure on October 28th 2024, so I decided to counter that and go out to take some photos. It was beautiful fall weather and the light was perfect. Cute little street with an even cuter street name, that ends in a beautiful park.
