Am Predigtstuhl (Ottakring), named after the field name in 1971. Originally, the entire Wilhelminenberg, including the remnant known today as Predigtstuhl, was called Predigtstuhl. The name derives from the sermons held here. During the Reformation, Protestants spread their teachings here through sermons. These gatherings came to an end during the Counter-Reformation. From later times, processions “into the mountains” are known: pilgrimages around the meadows and vineyards, with a sermon delivered in the community forest. An oak tree is said to have served as the pulpit, and was supposedly still visible in 1892.

Went to "Am Predigtstuhl" on July 27th 2024. I was too tired to bike and spent the whole ride there reading "Die schönste Version" by Ruth-Maria Thomas, a very engaging read. It was a good thing that I wore a mask during my travel in public transport, the reason for my tiredness was a Covid infection that broke out the next day.
