Ahornergasse was named on February 12, 1938 after the entrepreneur Karl Ahorner (1873-1934). Ahorner was the owner of a factory for footwear and for the factory production of army equipment made of leather in 7th district. He earned merit as a benefactor. The street was called Kreipelgasse from 1938 (shortly after it was previously named) to 1946.
